Archon's connector library supports 200+ enterprise systems across three generations of technology: legacy mainframes and mid-range platforms built in the 1970s–90s, relational databases that powered ERP in the 2000s, and modern cloud-native data platforms deployed today.

Every connector extracts structured and semi-structured data directly from source databases, file systems, or APIs, normalizes it to open Lakehouse formats, and lands it in Archon Data Store (ADS) with cryptographic integrity, metadata preservation, and retention orchestration built in.

This is not middleware. This is not a CSV export tool. This is the extraction and archiving layer enterprises use to decouple business data from application lifecycles, whether the trigger is ERP migration, regulatory audit, application decommissioning, or litigation hold.

Why Connectors Matter When You're Trying to Retire a System

Most enterprises don't fail at archiving because they lack storage. They fail because data extraction from legacy systems is harder than it looks, and vendor retention tools only work while you're still paying for the vendor's platform.

Archiving vendors don't actually archive your data in a way that frees you from the source application. They create a retention copy inside the source database, apply a policy, and call it archived. You still need the source database license. You still need the application running to query it.

Archon decouples the data entirely. The connector pulls from the source system once, transforms it to open formats, and deposits it in a governance-first lakehouse independent of any source vendor or platform license. When the old system shuts down, the data stays accessible. Permanently.

What Makes Archon's Connectors Different

Native Extraction Without Custom Code

Archon connectors use native APIs, JDBC/ODBC, file system adapters, or direct database reads to pull data as-is from the source. For mainframe platforms (AS/400, VSAM, DB2 on z/OS), this includes EBCDIC-to-UTF-8 conversion, packed decimal normalization, and DDS record layout parsing—automated, not manual.

Metadata Preservation with Full Schema Context

When data lands in ADS, it brings its schema, relationships, business keys, and audit lineage with it. This isn't a CSV dump. It's a governed data asset where PeopleSoft parent-child references and SAP financial mappings remain intact.

Immutability from Point of Ingestion

Every record is hashed (SHA-256), timestamped (RFC 3161), and written to append-only storage. This meets strict WORM requirements (SEC Rule 17a-4, FINRA, HIPAA) from the moment of extraction forward.

Open Formats That Don't Require Archon to Read

We use Parquet. You can query the archive with Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery. There is no black-box binary blob; your data remains yours, accessible by any standard analytics engine.

Use Cases Across the Archive Lifecycle

1. Pre-Migration Archiving

Archive historical data before moving to a new ERP/CRM to reduce migration scope and risk.

2. Application Decommissioning

Shut down end-of-life apps while retaining full audit access without "lights-on" costs.

3. Regulatory Audit

Instant access to records spanning 10+ years for tax authorities (IRS, HMRC) or VAT agencies.

4. Legal Hold

Freeze specific datasets in place indefinitely without altering the rest of the archive.

How Connector-Based Archiving Works

1
Discovery & Mapping: Archon scans source systems to catalog schema, relationships, and field types.
2
Extraction: Connector pulls data via native protocols (JDBC, REST, direct DB read).
3
Transformation: Data is normalized to Parquet/Delta Lake and tagged with retention metadata.
4
Ingestion to ADS: Records land in append-only storage with SHA-256 hashing and RFC 3161 timestamps.
5
Orchestration: Policy engine applies retention schedules and legal holds.
6
Query & Retrieval: Data is queryable via Archon Analyzer or SQL-compatible engines.

Industries Relying on Archon Connectors

  • Finance & Banking: Trade finance archiving, AML transaction record retention, and SEC Rule 17a-4 compliance.
  • Manufacturing: ERP consolidation (SAP, Oracle, JDE), shop floor data archiving, and audit trails.
  • Insurance: Policy administration migrations and premium accounting archives.
  • Healthcare: EHR decommissioning (Epic, Cerner), HIPAA-compliant retention, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Government: FOIA request fulfillment and citizen record retention.
